We are developing an autonomous robotics platform capable of navigating and mapping unknown environments with minimal operator input. The system combines Visual-Inertial Odometry (VIO), Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM), sensor fusion, and onboard perception to generate real-time spatial representations of indoor and GPS-denied environments. By fusing data from cameras, IMUs, depth sensors, and additional payloads, the platform continuously estimates its position while constructing a navigable map of the surrounding environment.
Our current development efforts focus on autonomous exploration, semantic scene understanding, and mission-oriented navigation. The platform is being designed as a modular research architecture that can be deployed across ground and aerial systems, enabling a shared autonomy stack for mapping, perception, and decision-making. Areas of active research include frontier-based exploration, semantic SLAM, multi-sensor fusion, onboard AI inference, and integration with systems such as ATAK to provide operators with real-time situational awareness and environmental intelligence.
